Community Outreach (Santa Protectors Inc.)

Santa Protectors Inc. is a non profit organization made up of firefighters and law enforcement
officers in shelby county. Santa Protectors Inc. uses the funds that we raise to take
underpriviledged children christmas shopping.
We try to raise enough funds to be able to spend approx. $50 per child. We encourage them to
spend their money mostly on clothing, however we let them purchase at least one toy.
The children are chosen by contacting the principals
of all the county and city school systems, choosing
children in the 1st grade to 6th grade age group.
This year we were able to get Wal-Mart to donate
2 bicycles for us to give away in a raffle drawing.

Our goal next year is to take 50 children shopping.
We have the children arrive at the fire station in the morning, provide them with a small breakfast,
load them each into a fire engine, police car, or ambulance. We then take them to Wal-Mart shopping,
bring them back to the fire station to wrap their gifts, and feed them lunch.
It is always a touching day to be able to provide underpriviledged children with christmas. This year
we are planning a few fundraisers, including an open bass tournament on lake monroe that will take
place on Aug. 8th, 2007.
