People often believe that the Shelbyville Fire Department exists only to respond to medical and fire emergencies.
While that is the main focus of what we do at the Shelbyville Fire Department, we also have another responsibility – education.
Every year, the Shelbyville Fire Department’s Public Education Division spends hundreds of hours educating the public.
Mike Haehl leads the Public Education Division of the Shelbyville Fire Department.
Annually, he visits schools and speaks to hundreds of children in Shelbyville about fire and life safety issues.
Officer Haehl also coordinates tours of the Shelbyville Fire Department facilities for school groups and civic organizations.
Thousands of people come through our doors every year to see what we do and where we live.
Officer Haehl also spends several days every year speaking with businesses and other organizations about making their businesses safer.
At the Shelbyville Fire Department, making our community safer is one of the most important things we do.
If you would like to set up a class or a tour of one of our facilities, please feel free to contact us at anytime.
The Shelbyville Fire Department will do whatever it takes to assist you or your organization in making your home or business safer.
