Local 2008 was founded in October of 1970 by 18 firefighters. There are currently 55 active members and 13 retired members. The Union provides the firefighters of Shelbyville a cohesive voice in the staffing, wages, equipment and procedures used by the Shelbyville Fire Department. Local 2008 is active in the community supporting local and national charities such as SANTA PROTECTORS and MDA. Local 2008 also sponsors an educational scholarship to help fund higher education.
